Apple delivered today on many of the widely rumored attributes of the next-generation iPhone 5.

“I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that the hardware and software engineering that has gone into this product is unlike we’ve ever undertaken before,” says Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing. “It’s designed and built to an exacting level of standard unlike anything we, or anyone in our industry, have made before. ”

But did the iPhone dazzle or disappoint today in its long-awaited unveiling?

The new iPhone features touted by Apple today include:

  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • Fast A6 processor
  • thinner design/weight
  • 4-inch Retina display
  • Longer battery life

But two of the most eagerly anticipated features didn’t show up today: coverage from T-Mobile and implementation of Near Field Communications technology for mobile payments/commerce.

The price structure for iPhone 5 is the same as previous models: $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB.

Pre-orders start on Friday the 14th for shipping on September 21st in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Its a trick. This should have been iPhone 4 for crying out loud. consumers are simply being milked. lucky are those who are stuck with contracts

I will like to hold the device in my hand and will judge it by checking out every feature and performance, make it compare with android devices and I feels iPhone will win the features comparison.

These are improvements for the iphone FANATICS. For Android users ICS or JLB these are way behind. Whoever buys iphone is just buying the brand not the item.

Man oh man…..Apple's big announcement fell hard. Just like their stock….
Looks like Android is king after all.

Major disappointment, for sure. Where are the new stuff, the innovation, the new tech toys? Its basically an iPhone4s upgrade. Evolutionary but not revolutionary, why spend more money on this iphone 4s upgrade?

I'm a huge blackberry fan so this apple iphone 5 dazzles me, the new bb 10 will eat it up. My bold 9900 that came out Aug. 2011 has NFC, way behind the game apple. Your doing what RIM did 5 years ago. Hope you enjoyed the ride

LTE should have been in the 4GS.
NFC should have been in the 5.

disappointed. They seem to be one generation behind Android.

My thoughts exactly. I can honestly say that the latest Android devices running Jelly Bean are better in regards to software AND hardware at this point. Something I thought I'd never say.

It is garbage…………who needs it. Apple propaganda tells you that
when you buy their products you are "cool" (whatever that means) when
really you are probably just a moron who is easily influenced by their advertising
campaign and value form over function. The Apple plan is that when you buy
an Apple product, it is like they then have an umbilical cord to your wallet to
extract as much cash from you as possible and they want to lock you into their little world. Apple products are junk that break
down at a high rate and have proprietary connectors.
