The check is in the mail.
That’s the message from Apple this week as the Cupertino, California-based iDevice maker begins distributing settlement checks to iPhone 4 owners who filed their claims in a class-action lawsuit.
“My $15 Apple iPhone4 AntennaGate settlement check came today. It has been so long I forgot what it was for and had to look it up,” one reader shared with TUAW.
Resulting from the controversy dubbed ‘Antennagate,” the $15 settlement checks are intended to bring closure to the infamous episode that came about when Apple made its smartphone antenna an external feature of the iPhone 4.
Regrettably for Apple, however, when the iPhone 4 was released in 2010, concerns about the new antenna mounted instantly.
In the end, Apple agreed to a $53 million dollar settlement to be paid out to a large number of iPhone 4 owners beginning this week.
