Last week, word surfaced that Apple is preparing to open its first retail store in Berlin, Germany – not a surprising move given how large of a fanbase the company enjoys in that nation today.
Late Thursday, confirmation came that the Berlin Apple store will open next Friday, May 3rd. Store hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday – Saturday.
During Apple’s Q1 earnings call this week, Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer revealed that the company now has 402 stores open worldwide. “We had revenue of $5.2 billion for the stores this year,” Oppenheimer said, which is up 19 percent year-over-year.
“There’s no better place to discover, explore and learn about our products than in retail,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in February. “Our team members there are the most amazing, awesome, incredible people on earth. It’s the best retail experience, it’s an experience where you walk in and instantly realize it’s for the purpose of serving, not selling.”
