Apple Unveils Long Awaited ‘iPad Mini’ with Lofty Price Tag

Apple on Tuesday unveiled the iPad mini – a cutting edge Apple tablet that delivers a 7.9″ display and is just 7.2mm thin.

Revealed just minutes after Apple surprised media with the 4th generation iPad, the iPad mini starts at $329 for the Wi-Fi 16 GB model, a price tag that is higher than what the mobile community had initially expected.

The cellular version of the iPad mini, meanwhile, starts at $459.

Nonetheless, the iPad mini fits in the palm on one’s hand and is less than half the weight of the last iPad.

The iPad mini comes with an A5 chip, FaceTime HD camera, 5-megapixel iSight camera, LTE connectivity and Wi-Fi.

The iPad mini is available in black and white and sports a Lightning connector. Apple says the miniature iPad is capable of matching the impressive 10-hour battery life of the 4th generation iPad.

Preorders for the iPad mini will begin this Friday.
