It will be the 12th nation of the world to claim an Apple retail store.
On what could very well be the eve of the iPad 3’s long-awaited introduction, Apple will extend its retail presence to a new location – this time, in Amsterdam.
Now boasting more than 350 retail stores around the world, Apple continues to aggressively expand its retail footprint well beyond the high-priority locations in China where iDevice ownership is growing at an exponential rate.
On Wednesday, Gary Allen of ifoAppleStore.com said the new Amsterdam store will open next month on the ground floor and mezzanine of the “historic Hirsch Building in city center.”
According to Allen, the Amsterdam store has been in the works since late 2010, with construction having begun in May of 2011. But it was just this past week when the words “Coming Soon” popped up on the front of the building.
The grand opening is set for March 3rd at 10 a.m.
