The latest Apple rumor turned out to be legitimate, as Cupertino officially rolled out its official retail store application called “Apple Store” (iTunes Link) on Tuesday.
Coinciding with the start of preordering for the new iPhone 4, users can preorder the updated handset via the “Apple Store” straight from their favorite iPhone OS device running iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
The free app delivers most, if not all, of the widely anticipated bells and whistles of an app of its kind. “Apple Store” makes it possible to find Apple retail stores, purchase products, preorder upcoming releases, and read customer reviews. You can also remain informed of new promotions and in-store happenings via the free application.
Most conveniently, “Apple Store” enables users to schedule appointments for Personal Shopping, Genius Bar or One to One training sessions.
Rumors of a possible retail store application have been persistent for months, but only on Monday were the speculations taken seriously after more than one Apple retail employee revealed insider knowledge of the forthcoming app release.
