Only two weeks removed from the unveiling of its successful iPhone 5 launch, Apple is said to be gearing up for the unveiling of its next new product – the iPad mini.
According to our source, who asked not be named, there appears to be some truth to the widespread rumors that Apple is preparing to launch a smaller and cheaper version of the iPad — often called the iPad mini or iPad air and usually described as having a 7.85-inch screen.
Fortune magazine reports that Apple may start sending out invites to its next media event as early as October 10th.
Although Apple still hasn’t confirmed the smaller, more affordable version of the iPad, “multiple sources” now confirm that such a device is coming and may reach consumers well before the end of October.
With the likes of Amazon and Barnes & Noble actively eating away at Apple’s tablet share with their smaller tablet offerings, Apple clearly has designs on cornering this market and cutting off any upstart momentum on the part of rivals in the space.
