One of Apple’s biggest overseas talents has reportedly bolted from the company.

CNET reported this morning that Pascal Cagni has resigned from his position as Apple’s vice president of operations.

French newspaper Le Figaro is reporting today, citing an unnamed source, that Cagni resigned from Apple yesterday.

The position encompasses operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

At this time, it isn’t clear exactly why Cagni left.

Cagni joined Apple back in April 2000 to head up the company’s European operations. According to reports at the time, he was hand-picked by Steve Jobs for the post. Prior to his time at Apple, Cagni served as vice president of consumer products for NEC/Packard Bell Europe.

For now, Apple isn’t formally commenting on the reports, nor has the company tapped an immediate replacement.
