Apple Projected to Sell 30 Million iPads This Holiday Season

Apple is projected to have a huge quarter on the strength of holiday sales of iPads.

Analyst Amit Daryanani of RBC Capital Markets estimates that Apple will sell 30 million iPads if the company also releases the so-called iPad mini in time for the holidays.

Even without the iPad mini, Apple is still in a strong position to sell north of 21 million iPads during the final quarter of 2012.

“Production of the iPad Mini is said to be underway at Apple’s Asian component suppliers,” Wall Street Cheat Sheet reported this morning, picking up on information from the Wall Street Journal. “The company had placed orders for 10 million units of the tablet for the holiday quarter. Apple is rumored to be preparing to launch the device at a media event on October 17, with the expectation that it will be put on sale before the end of the month.”

According to the latest chatter in the rumor mill, Apple will release the iPad mini before the month of October is over.
