On Tuesday, Apple released a very small software update to the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV.
But given how suspicious the update is (no significant changes, bug fixes, repairs, etc.), some are naturally wondering if the chiefly backend revisions foreshadow a major software or product refresh next week when Apple kicks off its annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference.
Following the update’s late Tuesday release – build number 9B830 – the blogosphere began churning out no shortage of speculation regarding Apple’s plans for the increasingly popular set-top box.
Apple TV’s last update – 5.0.1 – was released just last month. And since that time, no significant issues requiring a software update have manifested.
