Apple: iPhone 6 is an Overnight Blockbuster

Apple iPhone 6 is an Overnight BlockbusterWe were told unprecedented consumer demand would soon be apparent for Apple’s iPhone 6.

And that’s exactly what the world observed over the weekend as consumers flocked to Apple’s website so aggressively that it put the company’s online store on the fritz at times.

In the first 12 hours of preorders last Friday morning, Apple saw a new overnight record for preorders, setting the stage for a record-breaking opening sales weekend for a new Apple product launch.

“Response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been incredible with a record number of preorders overnight,” Apple said Friday afternoon.

Major U.S. carriers are also reporting “crushing demand,” leaving some shoppers out in the cold with a message that their orders may not ship for quite some time.

Countless T-Mobile customers reported receiving the following message upon endeavoring to order their new iPhone 6:

Due to high demand, your Apple product may not be available for immediate shipping. Once we are able to complete your order, you will receive a notification when your product has shipped.

Apple is expected to reveal weekend sales for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus early this week, if not today.

UPDATE: Apple on Monday confirmed a record number of preorders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. More than 4 million devices were preordered in the first 24 hours of availability.
