Apple’s iCloud platform is getting a big boost this week as the Cupertino, California-based tech giant has apparently reached a comprehensive deal with Universal Pictures.
As a result of the expanded partnership, which was confirmed Monday by sources close to the situation, iCloud users can now re-download movies (from Universal Pictures) purchased on iTunes through the iCloud service.
According to Engadget, “Universal titles no longer boast the unfortunate warning that they used to, allowing iTunes users to enjoy titles from iTunes in the Cloud.”
With the latest deal in place, only Fox remains as the lone major Hollywood studio yet to reach a similar deal with Apple.
But we’re told the deal is coming. And Apple, not surprisingly, is in a big hurry to seal the deal as iCloud quickly becomes a popular mechanism for expanding iOS-device access to purchased film and television content through iTunes.
