Over the weekend, Apple debuted the first TV commercial for its second generation tablet (see below).
In the new 30-second commercial, Apple doesn’t dwell on the refreshed tablet’s many upgraded features and new attributes. Instead, the sleek spot strikes a philosophical tone and stresses the unique user experience enjoyed by iPad 2 owners.
“This is what we believe,” the ad proclaims. “Technology alone is not enough. Faster, thinner, lighter…those are all good things. But when technology gets out of the way, everything becomes more delightful…even magical. That’s when you leap forward. That’s when you end up with something like this.”
Prior to the ad’s national television debut, it was briefly made available as an exclusive video promo on Apple’s official YouTube channel. The clip has now been added to Apple’s website as well.
The iPad 2, which debuted in the United States on March 11th, has enjoyed such domestic sales success that the tablet is already difficult to come by – a phenomenon that quickly spread overseas as the iPad 2 reached 25 additional countries on March 25th.
From the US to Australia, online iPad 2 orders placed directly through Apple routinely result in shipping estimates of two to four weeks, if not longer.
