Apple on Tuesday released iOS 6.1.3, an update that repairs a few known issues, one of which is pertinent to the security of iOS device users.

According to Apple, today’s update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

– Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app

– Improvements to Maps in Japan

According to MacRumors, Apple last week quietly delivered some “server-side improvements to Maps for Japanese users, but it appears that iOS 6.1.3 also builds in some updates for these users.”

Additionally, in response to today’s release – which should prompt an update notification on your iPhone soon if it hasn’t already – the jailbreak community was up in arms over the ability of 6.1.3 (Build 10B329) to seal off one of the security holes utilized by the evasi0n jailbreak tool.

iOS “jailbreakers” have been warned and are advised to avoid the upgrade for the time being.
