Apple Finally Gets Around to Trademarking ‘iPad mini’

Apple has had more than a few items on its agenda of late – releasing the iPhone 5, iPad 4, iPad mini, paying billions in dividends to shareholders, etc. Apple’s been so busy that only last week did the Cupertino, California-based tech giant finally get around to trademarking “iPad mini.”

According to Patently Apple, only after the iPad mini was release did Apple file the trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Apple filed for the trademark under application 85780375.

In the filing, Apple describes the device as:

A handheld mobile digital electronic device comprising a tablet computer, electronic book and periodical reader, digital audio and video player, camera, electronic personal organizer, personal digital assistant, electronic calendar, and mapping and global positioning system (GPS) device, and capable of providing access to the Internet and sending, receiving, and storing messages and other data.

Prior to securing the trademark at home, Apple trademarked the iPad mini name in Europe and Canada.
