Friday would have marked the 57th birthday of the late Apple co-founder and tech pioneer Steve Jobs.
As the first birthday to come since his passing last October, Steve Jobs is being remembered across social media today for his contributions to the world of technology and society at large.
Trending worldwide on Twitter this morning, Steve Jobs is being praised with Facebook posts and Tweets that are circulating a message that’s now gone viral:
“3 Apples changed the world: Adam and Eve’s forbidden apple, Newton’s apple and finally Steve Jobs’s Apple. Happy Birthday Steve Jobs.”
Outside of the flagship Apple retail store in New York City today, fans gathered to throw an unofficial birthday party of sorts for the iPhone visionary.
As the New York Post described the party planning, “dancers will gyrate to Bob Dylan songs while vegetarian birthday cake is served and black turtlenecks are handed out to hundreds of Apple fans.”
“He’s part of the culture now, I don’t think there’s any avoiding it,” said one of the party’s organizers. “If you want to respect his memory, the best way of doing it is focusing on a lot of the positive memories we have of him.”
