Apple Confirms Huge Sales Success of iPad mini, iPad 4

Kicking off their runs as Apple’s newest generation products, the iPad mini and 4th generation iPad combined for 3 million sales during their opening weekend of availability.

That information comes directly from Apple on Monday morning. This weekend’s sales doubled the number of third-generation iPads sold in March when that particular device was launched.

“Customers around the world love the new iPad mini and fourth generation iPad,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said this morning. “We set a new launch weekend record and practically sold out of iPad minis. We’re working hard to build more quickly to meet the incredible demand.”

Apple also confirmed today that a huge number of consumers have already ordered their new iPads, which won’t ship for several more days yet as the models with cellular connectivity are yet to launch.

Apple’s most popular iPad model over the weekend was the iPad mini 16-gigabyte white and silver model.
