Apple Boss Tim Cook Turns Heads in Idaho with Surprise Visit

It isn’t every day that you see Apple CEO Tim Cook in Idaho.

In fact, it isn’t every day that you see Tim Cook anywhere outside of his Cupertino, California offices at Apple headquarters.

But this week, Cook turned heads by turning up in Sun Valley, Idaho at Allen & Co.’s annual retreat for tech and media industry VIPs.

According to the New York Post, this is the first tech retreat Cook has gone on while Apple chief. Steve Jobs, on the other hand, was a frequent retreat-goer.

Published reports suggest that Cook only attended one session and then left. Several sources have noted, however, that Cook only showed up to connect with a number of industry professionals in hopes of laying the groundwork for content deals that will be essential for the launch of Apple’s rumored connected HDTV later this year or in early 2013.

When asked point-blank if he was there for any reason related to the Apple television project, Cook flatly said: “”I can’t tell you that.”
