There are many markets across the globe where iOS reigns supreme, but Latin America is not one of them.
According to recent research performed by comScore, Android leads the pack by a landslide in terms of mobile Internet traffic.
The study focused on 7 major countries where Android beats iOS by sizable margins.
The following list, which highlights data published by eMarketer, shows the nation and its corresponding approximate market share for Android:
- Chile – 80%
- Brazil – 76%
- Argentina – 75%
- Mexico and Columbia – 74%
- Peru – 72%
- Venezuela – 62%
Venezuela was the only country that had significant competition with around 29% of consumers using mobile devices other than those powered by Android, iOS, or Windows. While Easy Solutions performed a similar study that showed slightly different numbers, they still found that Android captures 62% of smartphone use and 56% of tablets in this region.
Android’s overwhelming success is likely due to their more competitive price points and wider range of device options.
