Amazon Unveils Authorized Steve Jobs Biography for Nine-Month Advance Preorder

If you like to order books in advance – way in advance – you’re going to be a happy camper today.

If you find out today that you’re expecting a baby, you’ll have the kid before the book arrives. But at least the folks at Amazon are giving you an early crack at what’s poised to become a bestseller.

Over the weekend, the first and only officially authorized biography of Apple founder and CEO Steve Jobs has turned up on

A quick review of the Amazon page shows that preorders must already be off to a gangbusters kind of start, as the title – iSteve: The Book of Jobs – is presently listed among bestsellers. Biography & History, Technology, and Business are the three categories showing the title at number 1.

The biography, written by Walter Isaacson, will be published by Simon & Schuster and released on March 6, 2012.

According to the official description from Amazon, the book is “drawn from three years of exclusive and unprecedented interviews Isaacson has conducted with Jobs as well as extensive interviews with Jobs’ family members, key colleagues from Apple and its competitors.” The book is being hyped as “the definitive portrait of the greatest innovator of his generation.”

The preorder price on Amazon is $18.00.

“This is the perfect match of subject and author, and it is certain to be a landmark book about one of the world’s greatest innovators,” says Jonathan Karp, publisher of Simon & Schuster. “Just as he did with Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, Walter Isaacson is telling a unique story of revolutionary genius.”
