Amazon Raises Stakes in Retail War with New App

It’s no secret that the online retail community is at war with its competitors like never before in the battle to scrape up scarce consumer funds.

Amazon.com, the official victor from the last holiday season, has developed and is launching its latest mobile offering for customers- “Amazon App for BlackBerry,”  available as a free download directly from Amazon.com at www.amazon.com/blackberry_app.

Unlike other apps which can be used on a variety of phones, this app is tailor made for the Blackberry customers who use a BlackBerry device with a track ball as a quick and simple way to find, discover, and buy products from Amazon.com and thousands of other retailers.

Having been a long time fan of Amazon, I was delighted to see how closely the mobile app resembles the easy and “smart” web nagivation features of Amazon.com. BlackBerry users can even access the “Amazon Remembers” feature for “a fun and easy way to build a list of photographs showing products they want to remember for later, make price comparisons across multiple merchants, and purchase.”

It’s a neat app, and worth checking out.
