Amazon Prepping New Tablet Computer to Rock The Mobile Tech World

Online retail giant Amazon.com is diving into the tablet computer frenzy.

That’s according to sources spilling the beans to the Wall Street Journal and Taiwanese publication DigiTimes.

Beginning as early as this fall, Amazon is on track to release a tablet computer that will directly challenge the tablet products offered by heavyhitters like Apple.

The Amazon tablet will all but certainly be Android powered.

DigiTimes, in fact, suggests that suppliers and manufacturers in Asia may already be moving ahead with the Amazon tablet’s production.

Understandably, few details are known about the rumored forthcoming product. But Joyce Huang, a Taiwan-based writer and editor for Forbes, says the Amazon tablet will be remarkably similar to competing tablets and even sport a camera lens from Newmax Technology.

“Experts believe Amazon is uniquely positioned to succeed with a tablet due to its brand name, e-commerce expertise and experience marketing its Kindle e-reader, selling media content and hosting cloud computing,” writes Elizabeth Woyke of Forbes on Thursday.
