Amazon’s tablet business is on “fire” to such an extent, that the online retail giant may introduce upwards of a half-dozen additional tablets in the coming year.
That’s the projection from Demos Parneros, president of U.S. Retail for Staples Inc., which sells the Kindle “Fire.” Parneros tells Reuters:
The tablets will be different sizes, including a 10-inch model, Parneros said. Amazon spokespeople declined to comment on the company’s plans.
“You’re seeing the Apple play book recreated by everyone else who wants to play in the mobile device ecosystem. Amazon is the latest entrant,” adds Niccolo de Masi, chief executive of Glu Mobile. “The Kindle Fire is off to a great start. We will be supporting all new devices that have promise. They are trying to build on the foundations they have.”
