Ace Marketing Expands Proximity Marketing Network, Reaching 60M Mall Visitors Monthly

It was announced recently that Ace Marketing & Promotions — known primarily for their location-based (proximity) marketing solution — is expanding its network (known as the Mobiquity Network) to an additional 50 malls in the third quarter of 2011, bringing the total to 67 malls across the U.S.

Ace’s mobile technology allows advertisers to deliver offers and rich media content via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi as shoppers pass by — without the need to download apps or be tracked by GPS.  At the heart of the network are small units provided by “out-of-home mall media specialist” EYE.  EYE’s units enhanced with Ace’s mobile technology are strategically positioned near entrances, anchor stores, escalators and other high-traffic and high dwell-time areas throughout each mall to maximize advertising messaging reach and frequency.

Ace’s Mobiquity Network will now be integrated into backlit and digital advertising assets across many of EYE’s top mall properties across the top 20 Designated Market Areas (DMA’s). Ace’s Mobiquity Network is scheduled to be fully installed by August 2011 in over 500 advertising zones across the 67 malls, giving advertisers the ability to deliver messaging to approximately 60 million mall visitors per month.

We’ve always been on the fence when it comes to proximity marketing.  Many argue that it’s an evasive tactic to use, while others swear by its effectiveness.  No matter which side you’re on, you have to be impressed by what Ace Marketing has accomplished with the concept.  They’ve built an ever-growing network across the country and continues to prove that, when implemented correctly, proximity marketing can work well in areas with a lot of foot traffic — such as malls and shopping centers.  We’d love to hear your thoughts and comments on this….
