Mobile barcode solutions provider 3GVision has published its latest usage stats for Q2 2011, showing an impressive 80% boost in usage over Q1 totals in the U.S.

While growth is strong in the U.S., worldwide usage of mobile barcodes continues to grow exponentially as well.  Barcode scans increased 52% in Q2 over Q1 worldwide.  Interestingly, the company says QR Code usage has grown the most in Germany, Canada and Australia thanks to many large brands adopting the technology during Q2.  What’s most surprising is that the U.S. is now in the number one spot in terms of worldwide mobile barcode usage, followed by Germany, the U.K, Italy and Canada to round out the top 5.

In terms of worldwide growth Australia leads the pack by far, increasing an impressive 113.8% over Q1.  It’s important to note that the data used for the report is based on the total number of QR Code, Datamatrix and UPC/EAN scans recorded by 3GVision’s “i-nigma” platform, which one could argue doesn’t give a clear indication of worldwide usage.  Still, the numbers paint an interesting picture of usage growth, especially in the U.S.
