Yahoo Acquires 8th Company of 2013 So Far

Yahoo has gone shopping again.

This week, Yahoo is celebrating the latest addition to its portfolio of acquired companies. This time, it’s Loki Studios, a Palo Alto based-mobile gaming startup.

“We are thrilled to be joining the exceptional folks at Yahoo. We believe fully in their commitment to creating outstanding mobile products. We are excited to learn from, work with and contribute to one of the most well-known pioneers of the tech industry,” reads a formal announcement on Loki Studios’ website.

Although Yahoo hasn’t confirmed as much, it appears that the acquisition is primarily talent-based and that Yahoo is primarily interested in Loki’s talent team.

“Today we welcomed Loki Studios to the Yahoo mobile team,” a Yahoo spokesperson tells DDM. “Their experience in community and location-based mobile services is impressive and we’re excited to have them on the team.”

This acquisition marks the eighth since the beginning of 2013.
