We’ve just learned that T-Mobile has decided to settle the lawsuit filed against them by EZ Texting a few weeks ago regarding the blocking of its short code. Though terms of the settlement are confidential, EZ Texting was “pleased with the result.”
The two were set to face off once again in a hearing scheduled for yesterday, but was settled beforehand. The case brought unfavorable attention to T-Mobile, and they likely wanted to stop the bleeding before things went any further. EZ Texting was quickly garnering support from mobile service providers and many others in the ecosystem who felt T-Mobile was wrong in its justification to issue a complete block of its main short code for “not following certain industry processes.”
We’ll undoubtedly hear more about the settlement as the dust settles and responses are published by both EZ Texting and T-Mobile, so stay tuned.
