With Apple’s product line becoming more popular and pervasive than ever in the enterprise arena, news of Apple’s most recent retail partnership is anything but surprising.
According to published reports last fall, Apple reached a new product distribution agreement with Staples. Although Staples had been selling a variety of Apple products and accessories – including the Apple TV and iPad Smart Covers – the new deal called for Staples to begin selling iPads online before year’s end.
Little did we realize last fall that Staples’ deal with Apple would permit the office supply chain to start selling iPads in store in early 2014.
For now, Staples will only stock the new iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display. All previous-generation models will not be available for purchase at brick-and-mortar Staples stores.
Sources told CNET on Wednesday that Staples customers “can score as much as $300 by trading in an older iPad and earn 5 percent back in rewards credits.”
As of this writing, not all Staples locations are currently stocking the new iPads.
