Report: Don’t Hold Your Breath for Apple’s Next iPhone

For four consecutive summers beginning in 2007, Apple fans have been privileged to enjoy an annual July treat – the introduction of a next-generation iPhone.

But last year, Apple broke the summer mold by waiting until October of 2011 to introduce the most recent iPhone model – the iPhone 4S.

And in case you were hoping for a 2012 summertime rival of the July iPhone introduction, you may be severely disappointed.

According to published reports late Monday, Apple is believed to be happy with fall as the new season for iPhone model refreshes.

As a result, Japanese blog Macotakara says the next iPhone – tentatively dubbed the iPhone 5 – won’t reach consumers before this October, one year after the iPhone 4S debuted.

Apple was reportedly beyond thrilled with the sales success that followed the fall release – something that contributed greatly to Apple enjoying a record holiday quarter to end 2011.

The source conferring with the far east news source said Apple is going to maintain this new fall-time iPhone release pattern “for years.”
