Online Gambling Bill Signed Into Law in Nevada

It’s one small step for Nevada and one giant leap for online gambling in the United States.

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval has signed legislation legalizing online gambling in his high stakes-friendly state.

Nevada’s elected leaders say it is important for Nevada to remain “at the forefront of gambling regulation.”

“This is an historic day for the great state of Nevada,” Gov. Sandoval said Thursday. “Today I sign into law the framework that will usher in the next frontier of gaming in Nevada.”

Sandoval, who is the former chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission, made no secret of his support for the bill before its passage.

“This bill is critical to our state’s economy and ensures that we will continue to be the gold standard for gaming regulation,” he added.

Nevada has already received nearly two dozen applications from operators, equipment and software vendors to be licensed for online gambling.

The State of New Jersey is expected to enact similar legislation, possibly as soon as next week.
