Well, it’s about time.
That’s the reaction of some this week in response to the news that mobile marketing and mobile advertising are getting high-profile placement in Barcelona, Spain.
This week, The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), Facebook and Nasdaq announced an official partnership with the Mobile World Congress (MWC), which kicks off next month.
According to the inside scoop from NativeMobile, the partners mentioned above will produce “a full-day of programming on Monday, March 2, 2015 devoted to mobile advertising and marketing – marking the first time that the traditionally tech-focused conference will tackle this critical topic.”
Developed for senior-level leadership in the marketing, media and technology industries, the invitation-only event will spotlight the finest work in mobile advertising and examine new trends and technologies that are destined to influence the mobile landscape in years to come.
“The growth of mobile has completely shifted the way that companies need to approach their marketing strategies,” Sarah Personette, Head of Global Business Marketing at Facebook, said in response to the MWC announcement. “Advertising can now be tailored to reach real people around the world with tailored messaging, transforming what was once a mass media approach into ‘people-based marketing.’ An exploration of this dramatic change is going to be at the core of our sessions at Mobile World Congress.”
