Mobile Marketing Hams It Up For The Holidays

Mobile marketing has, indeed, come a long way. And now its travels have led to a “pork” in the road.

As it turns out, certain folks from the ham industry are counting on the power of mobile marketing to keep ham on the forefront of our minds (and dinner tables) this holiday season.

Kentucky Legend Ham, for example, is serving up a mobile marketing campaign to engage consumers where they live – on their mobile devices.

“Mobile messaging is growing,” said Janet Sweeney, marketing director for Kentucky Legend Ham. “In 2010, 82% of mobile phone users ages 30 – 49 regularly sent and received text messages vs. 75% in 2009. More than half of mobile phone Internet users go online daily from their mobile device.”

If you’re unfamiliar, Kentucky Legend Hams are produced by Specialty Foods Group, Inc. (SFG), a leading U.S. producer and marketer of a wide variety of premium branded and private-label processed meat products.

To capitalize on the booming business of mobile marketing, SFG will be giving away 250 Kentucky Legend hams via a fall promotion from now through December 31, 2011. Consumers can text the key word “Legend” to 72727 for a chance to win a ham.

“We think that this is a great way to create awareness of our Kentucky Legend brand and to give consumers a chance to try one of these outstanding hams,” said Sweeney.
