On Tuesday, an executive with Google is getting no shortage of attention for the Android revelation he made earlier this week.
The venerable search engine’s Vice President of Mobile, Andy Rubin, says Android now sees nearly 900,000 activations every day.
That’s 50,000 more daily activations than were logged in the month of February.
The announcement came just as Rubin sought to quiet the rumor mill, which had suggested the prominent executive was on his way out at Google.
“No plans to leave Google,” Rubin tweeted. “Oh, and just for meme completeness — there are over 900,000 android devices activated each day :-)”
According to TechCrunch, Rubin’s tweets have displayed a familiar pattern since he joined the social network in 2010.
“Of his 11 tweets since joining Twitter in October 2010,” the publication asserts, “more than half have cited the number of Android devices activated each day.”
