Several sources are already reporting so-called “leaked” details on the yet-to-be-announced Apple Tablet. Photos of the supposed device are already circulating hot and heavy, as are some basic specs.
Rumors abound that the device will have a 10-inch screen and look like a larger iPhone with a MacBook-like aluminum back, with a starting price set to be around $800 on a subsidized contract with Verizon and $1000 without when it arrives in March.
Jason Calacanis, founder of Weblogs, inc. and Mahalo recently divulged that despite an NDA agreement with Apple, he’s been playing around with an Apple Tablet for the last 10 days. Among the details he told some 90,000 Twitter followers, he states the Tablet comes with:
- A built-in HDTV tuner and PVR. It’s “amazing” for newspapers, and video-conferencing is “super stable but nothing new”.
- Two cameras – one in front, one in back.
- Thumbpads on each side for mouse gestures and fingerprint security for the family.
- Gaming that, he says, is “sick” [good]. “Basically nintendo wii-level innovation. Custom farmville app is insane.”
- The tablet connects to other tablets over wifi for gaming.
- Battery life of 2-3 hours playing games – and a solar pad for recharging that “really doesn’t work quickly”.
Though it’s all still utter speculation, anticipation is on high for event set to kick off in under an hour. Stay tuned to MMW for further updates.
