Amazon Expanding 1-Click Checkout Mobile Experience

Amazon.com is extending its 1-Click checkout experience to mobile customers with the introduction of Amazon Mobile Payments Service.

In short, Amazon MPS works as one would expect; it provides developers, merchants and distributors of mobile apps a simpler and more efficient way of processing payments directly from mobile devices. Once you’ve signed in to an Amazon MPS-enabled app, you’re ready to shop until you drop.

Howard Gefen, Director of Amazon Mobile Payments, says “Amazon customers can now also make purchases on third party sites without needing to set up separate payment accounts—they simply use the payment information in their existing Amazon accounts.”

Both newbies and veterans alike in mobile marketing understand the value of a smooth purchasing process, particularly from a mobile device app. The extension of Amazon’s familiar and popular 1-Click checkout experience to other venues in the mobile realm is a comforting thought to both those who will use Amazon MPS to sell goods or purchase them.

The online retail giant also said upon the announcement that any merchant who already offers Amazon Payments on their website will be able to use the new mobile payment option without the need for any backend development.
